And so we have it. A default agreement out of the Copenhagen climate talks. An agreement that our species is not worth saving. An agreement to foreclose on our children's future. An agreement to carry on committing progenycide. An agreement to exterminate life on the planet. An agreement to be our own executioners.
Something about transparency versus sovereignty got in the way at the final hour. Guess those folks have never heard of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Aren't we smart. Good luck eating your transparency and your sovereignty when the climate #!@$ hits the fan.
Time for a revolution, folks.
Copenhagen has failed. The UN has failed to address the most important crisis in human history. This is now the time for sanctions, boycotts and embargoes. A new alliance is needed. An alliance of hope and peace and justice must be built to oppose the axis of pollution, extinction and self destruction.

Thanks for writing, Canada Guy. More than a few tears were shed yesterday. I cannot believe the sheer heartlessness of the Barack Obamas and Stephen Harpers, the Wen Jiabaos and Hilary Clintons. The tragedy is that they're not JUST self-destructive bastards — they're taking the children of all species down with them.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering ... what if all the developing nations "boycotted" repaying their loans to international banks? And what if citizens in developed nations "boycotted" paying their income taxes? It truly does seem that "money" is the only language these leaders and their cronies speak.
GreenHearted, yes, that could be a good idea. If one country refuses to pay back world bank debt, they could be penalized. But if 50 countries do the same, what can they do?
ReplyDeleteOther options would be to kick out western companies and potentially seize assets, or nationalize resources. The third world really has a lot of options, so long as they stay together.
